The holiday season is here, which means you'll see items in the baking aisle in your local grocery store taking a huge hit. But what is the favorite holiday treat of Mainers?

If you talk to friends, family members, and co-workers during Christmas time, no doubt you've heard through the years all of their favorite holiday treats or what they're baking this year.

Which poses the question.

What is the big favorite holiday treat for most people?

A lot of that may depend on many different factors. Where you grew up, what nationality your family shares which swings to what traditions they partake in.

Many factors will bring us to some very interesting and, hopefully tasty, results!

What is the favorite Christmas treat of most Mainers?

Kristen McGrath, a writer for Offers.com, posted the same question and shared some facts and figures about what treats we enjoy around the holidays.

After surveying 1,000 Americans and with the help of Google Survey's, the all-time favorite treat among Americans is Pumpkin Pie.

But she was also kind enough to take the survey a bit further and break the favorite treats down state by state.

Here are the results.

  • Maine - Peppermint Bark (Really?)
  • Vermont - Tied for Fruitcake and Pumpkin Pie
  • New Hampshire - Pumpkin Pie
  • Massachusetts - Peppermint Bark (Maine's not the only state)
  • Florida - Pumpkin Pie

I don't know, what do you think? As a Mainer, is Peppermint Bark your favorite Christmas treat or do you enjoy another?

Take the quick poll below and let's see if those in Maine agree with Peppermint Bark!
