State Police say 50-year-old Dennis Winchester was charged with 5 counts of burglary, 8 counts of theft, 7 counts of criminal mischief and 1 count of violating conditions of release.

State and local police worked to identify the owners of the stolen property stemming from crimes committed in Washburn,  Perham, New Sweden, Caswell, Stockholm, New Canada, and Cyr Plantation, according to Sgt. Chad Fuller.

Winchester's arrest followed multiple search warrants and interviews with victims of alleged crimes going back to December 2013,  Fuller said.

On November 9, Maine State Police assisted Van Buren Police in recovering several stolen items at Winchester’s residence on the Castonguay Road in Van Buren.

Winchester is being held at the Aroostook County Jail in Houlton and is scheduled to appear in Caribou Superior Court on December 18.

Police said social media was useful in obtaining tips in their investigation of the crimes.
