The Boston Red Sox snapped a 8 game losing streak Monday night, August 5th beating the Kansas City Royals 7-5 at Fenway Park. Rick Porcello allowed just 1 run in 6 innings and Rafael Devers and Sam Travis homered.

Porcello went 6 innings allowing just 4 hits and 1 run. He struck out 5 and walked 2.

Rafael Devers was 2-4 with a homer. He's the 1st Red Sox with 23 plus homers in a single season at the age of 22 or younger since Tony Conigliaro hit  28 and George Scott hit 27 in 1066. He now leads Major League Baseball with 146 hits and ranks 2nd with 92 runs scored. He leads the Red Sox with 87 runs batted in.

Andrew Benintendi was 2-4 with 2 doubles and 2 runs batted in. Michael Chavis was 2-3 with a walk and Sam Travis was 1-4 with a homer and 2 runs batted in.

Brandon Workman pitched a scoreless 9th inning striking out 2 for his 6th save of the season.

Nathan Eovaldi allowed 1 run in 1 inning and Matt Barnes had another tough outing allowing 3 runs and 2 hits including a homer .

The Red Sox are 14.5 games out of 1st place and 5.5 games out of the wild card.
