NMCC Students Get Free Services for Job Interviews
Northern Maine Community College will be helping students prepare for the workforce in a very practical way during Senior Make-Over Day.
On Thursday, March 2nd students will have the opportunity to take advantage of a number of free services which will prepare them to compete and to present themselves professionally during interviews and meetings with potential employers.
NMCC’s counseling office is sponsoring the event in anticipation of the Job Fair which is taking place the following week, Thursday, March 9 at the College. About 50 businesses and industries from Aroostook and beyond will be represented at the Fair, many of them hoping to fill vacancies.
“We want to assist our students to be ready in every way for the Job Fair or other interviews with potential employers,” says Tammy Nelson, Director of Counseling. “We have been collecting professional clothing and have arranged for hair stylists to cut or style hair. We will also be offering makeup makeovers and interviewing and resume tips. It will truly be one-stop shopping for those preparing to compete for a job.”
NMCC students can pick out clothing, have a hair appointment (first-come, first-served basis), and meet with volunteers from the business community to polish resumes and improve interviewing skills—all free of charge. Senior Make-Over Day runs from 12 to 3 p.m. in the Edmunds Conference Center.
