Flood Advisory in Effect, Road Updates, Maine & New Brunswick
The rushing waters of the Saint John River and its tributaries are starting to recede in northern Aroostook County. Residents in low lying areas, however, are advised to remain on alert today for continued flooding.
Fort Kent Police reported Wednesday morning that the Fish River Bridge is open.
Meanwhile, the Saint John River in Fredericton has reached last year's devastating flood level and is also causing significant flooding in southern New Brunswick.
Emergency officials caution the river levels will continue to rise in southern parts of the province over the next few days. Levels in northern regions have stabilized but are expected to remain above flood stage for the rest of the week.
For a second day, Andover Elementary, Perth-Andover Middle School and Southern Victoria High School are closed due to flood conditions.
