It's always good to see a new business open and especially when it deals with coffee. Presque Isle has a new premier coffee house called Cafe Allegro.

Business partners Allison Basye and Greg Doak both love Italian and they love music. That's why they named their new coffee shop 'Allegro', which is Italian for "upbeat tempo."

When you enter into Cafe Allegro you'll walk across hardwood floors to the counter where you'll place your order. You can sit and visit with friends in an atmosphere of nostalgia and decorated with art from local artists.

But they don't just serve your favorite drinks. They also serve comfort food to enhance your experience and fill your tummy.

They roast their own meat, which means their sandwiches are delicious. They get their produce from local farmers as well as locally homemade Amish danishes, pastries, and muffins. Homemade bread for your sandwiches.

Their primary coffee is Gold Peak, a Coca-Cola product, but they believe in brewing locally roasted coffee as well. Northern Grind Coffee Company provides a wood-roasted coffee blend, which is out of this world and roasted right here in the county, out of Fort Fairfield.

Cappuccino, espresso, latte, americano and macchiato drinks are available, just to name a few, as well as regular coffee. Not a coffee drinker? No problem. They have teas and other drinks on hand too.

If you like flavor for your coffee, Cafe Allegro offers 20 different flavors, to include 4 that are sugar-free. Fresh creamers are available also.

In the near future, you'll be able to hold meetings and other functions in their conference room, with more parking to come in the back.

Get a great start to your weekend while enjoying 'open mic' night, every Friday and Saturday, as your entertained by local artists.

Basye has been in the food business for 35 years and was a corporate manager for the University of Maine-Presque Isle.

Cafe Allegro is located at 483 Main Street in Presque Isle. You can reach them at 207-760-7504 or find them on Facebook.
