UMPI to Host Greenhouse Dedication
The official opening and dedication ceremony for the Zillman Family Greenhouse is being hosted by the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
The opening and dedication will take place this Friday, September 27, at 2 p.m. The state-of-the-art greenhouse is located at the back edge of the Gentile Hall parking lot. The 2400-square-foot all-season greenhouse will include two climate-controlled research labs, a teaching classroom, and a faculty office for the Dr. Robert Vinton Akeley Chair of Agricultural Science and Agribusiness.
The opening and dedication ceremony for the Zillman Family Greenhouse will include the unveiling of the building’s new sign, a ribbon cutting, and a ceremonial planting inside the new building. On display will be a John Deere tractor and gator, as well as new farm equipment.
The goal of the new high tech facility is to better serve UMPI students and the community and, prepare highly skilled workers for one of Aroostook County’s primary economic drivers.
