The crash occurred at around 5:00 a.m. on Route 15 just outside Shemogue. Corporal Gabriel Deveau said a vehicle travelling eastbound went off the road and rolled several times.

A 16-year-old girl from Petit-Cap and 21-year-old man from Shemogue, were both ejected from the vehicle, Deveau said.

The girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say the preliminary investigation indicates that speed may have been a contributing factor to the crash.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist is assisting with the ongoing investigation.

This was the third fatal crash in the Shediac area in the past 10 days.
