Two people were injured including a 16-year-old female after a three-vehicle crash in Northfield.

Teen was Turning into Driveway When Crash Happened

Police said a 16-year-old female from Northfield was driving on Route 192 Sunday morning and was making a left hand turn into a driveway as a pickup truck was driving in the opposite lane.

Two Vehicles Collided

A 50-year-old man, Perin Yates of East Machias, and the teen collided.

Third Vehicle Involved in Accident

The teen’s vehicle “spun out and struck a GMC pickup truck operated by 43-year-old Aaron Getchell of Whitneyville who was following behind,” said Shannon Moss, Public Information Officer, Maine Department of Public Safety.

Two People Injured and One not Injured after Crash

The 16-year-old and Yates were both injured in the crash and taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. Getchell was not injured in the collision.

Teen Listed in Critical Condition

“The 16-year-old driver is in critical condition but is expected to survive,” said the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Game Warden Reported the Collision to Dispatch

First responders on the scene included a Game Warden who came across the accident around 9:20 am. The warden called the crash into dispatch for medical aid and emergency response.

Crash Investigation Ongoing as Scene is Reconstructed

The crash remains under investigation and was being reconstructed by the Maine State Police. Assisting was the Maine Marine Patrol and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
