‘Santa’s Sleigh’ Once Again Making Christmas Brighter
Townsquare Media, Northern Light A.R. Gould Hospital, Presque Isle Rotary, and Presque Isle Kiwanis are joining United Way of Aroostook are partnering to help kids in Aroostook County have a brighter holiday than they might not have had,
The United Way of Aroostook has been helping children of Aroostook County have a merrier Christmas for more than a decade and a half with donations of toys, gifts, and money to the "Santa's Sleigh" program.
United Way of Aroostook Executive Director Sherry Locke describes the project's success this way, “This program couldn’t provide as many toys and gifts as it does without the donors who help each and every year.”
Locke explains that the Santa’s Sleigh Team will have a float in the 29th Annual Holiday Light Parade in Presque Isle this Saturday, Dec. 1st. They will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages, including teens. Gifts can also be dropped off in the big sleigh located at the Aroostook Centre Mall’s food court.
Just prior to Christmas, the Presque Isle Varsity Club helps United Way sort and pack the toys which will then be distributed to municipalities who’ve requested them for the kids who need them in their community.
