One Person Died and One Flown to Maine Hospital after Crash
One woman died, another woman was taken to the hospital, and a 51-year-old man was arrested on multiple charges after a collision in Albion.
Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash
The Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office said a truck and van collided at the intersection of Belfast and Unity roads around 3 pm on Friday afternoon.
Woman Flown to Hospital with Injuries
A 46-year-old woman from Dixfield was driving the van. She was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor by LifeFlight. Her condition was not known.
One Person Died after LifeFlight to Hospital
Thirty-eight-year-old Kandi L. Carrier from Rumford was a passenger in the van. She was flown by LifeFlight to Northern Lights Inland Hospital in Waterville where she died.
Truck Driver Arrested and Charged
The truck driver, 51-year-old Stephen Bard ran off into the woods after the crash, said police. He was later arrested at his home.
Multiple Charges
Bard is facing charges for operating under the influence resulting in death, operating after suspension, causing serious bodily injury or death while license is suspended, and aggravated leaving scene of motor vehicle accident.
Truck Driver Taken to Correctional Facility
Bard was later taken to the Kennebec County Correctional Facility in Augusta, according to the Kennebec Journal.
