Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme’s planned appearances on a kids’ TV channel run by the British Broadcasting Corporation have been called off in the continuing fallout from an incident with a photographer at the weekend.

In October he'd appeared on the CBeebies channel to read a tale about dragons for their Bedtime Stories program. A spokesperson for the BBC confirmed to the Telegraph that, while he had recorded two other episodes of the show, none of the three were currently scheduled to be aired. “We won’t broadcast any new material or re-broadcast his previous story,” said the representative, adding that the effective ban would remain in place “until the matter is resolved.”

Homme was captured on video kicking Chelsea Lauren while she worked in the security pit at a festival in Los Angeles. Lauren reported that she’d spent time in hospital after the assault, which had left her with injuries to her neck and forehead. “Assault in any form is not okay, no matter what the reasoning," she wrote. "Alcohol and drugs are no excuse. I was where I was allowed to be, I was not breaking any rules. I was simply trying to do my job. I hold nobody accountable for this but Josh himself.”

After an initial apology, where he said he was "lost in performance," was criticized for appearing lukewarm, he issued a second statement in a video. “I don't have any excuse or reason to justify what I did. I was a total dick, and I'm truly sorry, and I hope you're okay. I've made a lot of mistakes in my life, and last night was definitely one of them. And I apologize for that to you.”

Queens of the Stone Age acre currently touring in support of latest album Villains, which arrived in September. Their schedule includes dates across North America until the end of May.
