A 61-year-old man was sentenced for being a felon in possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number and other firearms.

Sentenced to Five Years for Illegal Possession of Firearms

Marc Karun from Stetson was given five years in prison with three years of supervised release.

Pleaded Guilty to the Charges

Karun pleaded guilty to the charges on February 15, 2024.

60 Firearms Seized and 14,000 Rounds of Ammo

Police executed a search warrant and seized more than 60 firearms and over 14,000 rounds of ammunition at his Stetson residence.

Firearms Found in House and One with Serial Number Removed

“The guns were found in various places in the house, and some were loaded. One rifle had the serial number removed,” according to the United States Attorney’s Office.

Prohibited from Possessing a Firearm

Karun was prohibited from having firearms in his possession.

Prior Felony Conviction for Sexual Assault, Burglary, and Larceny

He had a a felony conviction for sexual assault, attempted sexual assault, burglary, and larceny.

Sentenced in United States District Court

He was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Bangor by U.S. District Judge Stacey D. Neuman.

Lead Investigators in the Case

The chief investigators in the case were the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and the Maine State Police.
