High Winds and Gusts Cause Power Outages

High winds and gusts are causing power outages in numerous areas across northern Maine today, with some lines down and tree limbs falling.

Currently, more than 2000 Emera Maine customers are without power, nearly 100 in Aroostook County. Crews are busy working to restore service safely, and as quickly as possible.

The public is urged to slow down or move over and change lanes, when possible, if approaching utility crews working on roadways, to ensure everyone's safety.

Customers who use generators or alternate heating sources are reminded to ensure they are used in accordance with manufacturer's guidelines at all times.
