The 3rd Annual “Helping Hands for Warm and Safe Homes” telethon will take place Thursday, November 14th.

The funds raised from the telethon will assist Aroostook County citizens experiencing heating and housing hardships.

The telethon is once again being coordinated by WAGM TV, Aroostook County Action Program (ACAP), and United Way of Aroostook. The organizational trio will partner to bring the day-long telethon being broadcast on WAGM TV from 5:30AM to 7PM.

A goal of $60,000 has been set for this year. Local dollars raised will be used to assist individuals and families in crisis.  All funds will be administered by ACAP.  Based on reoccurring needs in the community, the program has expanded to include, not only heating assistance, but also safe housing assistance.

Over 30 volunteers from various organizations and businesses will take calls at both the WAGM call center and the ACAP HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program) call center. Viewers are urged to call to donate to help raise funds.

Individuals needing assistance will need to apply and be approved for funds.  They should call the ACAP offices at 768-3053 to make an appointment.
