The CRS certification rewards jurisdictions that take action to reduce flood damage to insurable property, strengthen and support the insurance aspects of the NFIP, and encourage a comprehensive approach to floodplain management.

Fort Fairfield has been CRS certified since 2001.  From 2001 to 2016 the Town’s CRS certification rating was 8, which saved Flood Insurance Policy Holders 10% off their flood insurance rates.  The 2017 CRS certification rating is 7, which saves Flood Insurance Policy Holders 15% off their flood insurance rates.  This increase is savings in due in large part to the diligent work done by members of the Town staff.
