One person died Tuesday morning and three people were seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash on Limestone Road in Fort Fairfield.
Crash after Crossing Center Lane
Fort Fairfield Police Chief Matthew E. Cummings said a Chevy Impala “drove onto the dirt shoulder. The vehicle over-corrected and crossed into the north bound lane striking a 2023 Chevy Trailblazer.”
Driver Died and Passenger Critically Injured
The driver of the Chevy Trailblazer, 60-year-old Carrie Smith-Gagne, died at the scene. The passenger, 72-year-old Pierre Gagne, had life threatening injuries and was taken to Cary Medical Center.
Two People had Life Threatening Injuries
Both people in the Impala were ejected from the vehicle and had life threatening injuries. Police said 25-year-old Amber Turcotte was taken to Northern Light A.R. Gould hospital in Presque Isle and 37-year-old Casey Clayton was transported to Cary Medical Center.
Wearing Seatbelts
“Carrie and Pierre were both wearing seatbelts. All individuals involved are residents of Limestone Maine,” said Chief Cummings. The crash is under investigation.
