A 75-year-old man was arrested and charged with Arson after a house fire in Harrington.

Man Arrested and Charged after House Fire

Arthur Langley was taken into custody Tuesday and charged with Arson and Reckless Conduct for the July 17 fire at 1230 Main Street.

Fire was Determined to be Incendiary and not Accidental

The Office of the State Fire Marshal investigated the case and determined the fire was incendiary and not accidentally caused by outdoor burning.

Initial Report was the Fire was Accidental from an Outdoor Burn

The initial report was that the fire was accidental and caused by an outdoor burn that spread to the residence.

Witnesses Interviewed and Evidence Examined as Part of the Investigation

Multiple witnesses were interviewed and a detailed examination of the scene was done.

Warrant Executed at Suspect’s Residence and Arrest Made

An arrest warrant was executed at Langley’s residence in Columbia, Maine and he was arrested and charged.

Taken to County Jail and Charged with Arson and Reckless Conduct

He was transported to the Washington County Jail and booked. He was held without bail.
