The Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center was full of music and fun as the Annual Awards Dinner recognized Dixie Shaw, Donald Bouley and Pineland Farms Potato Company. Approximately 220 people from around the State gathered to pay tribute.

Dixie Shaw was recognized for her outstanding commitment to meeting hunger needs in Aroostook County with the 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award. Dixie’s can-do spirit took what was a small home supplies depot and food pantry to a comprehensive model to sustain the needs of those who are hungry and vulnerable. The model now encompasses a multifaceted set of services from growing and gleaning produce to disaster planning. Karen Gonya, Past President of the Central Aroostook Chamber of Commerce had the pleasure of presenting this award.

Don Bouley received the 2015 Citizen of the Year Award. Chief Bouley is being honored for the establishment of a memorial in Ashland honoring the many EMS, firefighters and civic people who lost their lives or responded to the tragedies of September 11, 2001. Bill Getman, Chamber Board President presented the award to Don.

Nancy Fletcher, a past Board President presented the 2015 Business of the Year Award to Pineland Farms Potato Company, Inc., doing business as Pineland Farms. Pineland Farms is a wonderful example that there is still opportunity in Aroostook County. All it takes is creativity, intelligence and determination. That combination has created about eighty new jobs in the last year and a half building to a total work force of more than 200. Pineland Farms products can be found in markets and are used in the service industry and all is done with diligent care for safety, sustainability and responsibility.

All of the honorees received sentiments from Senators Susan Collins and Angus King, Congressman Bruce Poliquin and round trip tickets for two from Presque Isle to Boston, compliments of PenAir. Sen. Willette and Sen. Edgecomb sent sentiments to those in their constituency.
