A 43-year-old man with an ax and machete was arrested and charged with injuring two deputies and damaging a cruiser in Peru, Maine.

Charged with Terrorizing Vehicles with an Ax and Machete

The Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said Bert Holmquist was terrorizing and damaging vehicles Friday night.

Suspect Confronted Deputies with an Ax and Machete

Deputies located Holmquist at his residence and he confronted them with the ax and machete.

Man Broke a Window in the Cruiser and Injured Two Deputies

Holmquist resisted arrest and broke a window in the sheriff’s cruiser and injured two deputies.

Deputies Injured and Treated

The two deputies had minor injuries and were treated at the scene.

Facing Multiple Charges Including Terrorizing

Holmquist was taken into custody and charged with terrorizing, assault, aggravated criminal mischief, criminal mischief, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and refusing to submit to arrest or detention.

Suspect Damaged Property During Booking at Jail

Holmquist also damaged property while being booked at the Oxford County Jail.
