Ryan Lavway, a 2015 Presque Isle High School graduate, will be a freshman at University of Maine at Orono this fall and plans to pursue a degree in Nursing. He is the son of Lynnelle Lavway.

Each graduate received a $4,000 scholarship through the Aroostook County Federal Savings & Loan Association Scholarship Fund Program.  “The Board of Directors started the scholarship fund program in 2000 to help our Association members and their families with pursuing their higher education,” explained John Swanberg, President. “We know how important a college education is today. This is just one way of showing our appreciation to our customers for their loyalty throughout the years, and to thank them for their continued support of our Association.”

So far, the program has awarded $105,000 in scholarships since its inception in 2000.  With the cost of tuition increasing each year, these funds have helped many Aroostook County families cover educational expenses.
