There is no doubt that there has been a radical explosion in the craft brewing industry throughout the nation over the past decade. In fact, Maine is now home to over 30 brewers, including Allagash and Shipyard.

Interestingly, there used to be all sorts of independent brewers across the state of Maine before they were forced out of business due to prohibition. That’s when the bigger breweries, like Anheuser-Busch and Miller Brewing, who had the means to survive prohibition, gained some momentum and began plotting their monopoly on the market.

However, now, independent brewers, including those in Maine, are making a come back – creating excitement all across the state and proving that there is, without a doubt, a huge market of people that prefer to enjoy locally made beers rather than anything that comes in a cold-activated bottle.
