WARNING – Don’t Click This Spam Link On Facebook Messenger
The scammers are at it again, only this time they may come from a Facebook Messenger link that one of your legitimate friends sent you.
According to an article on the website BleepingComputer.com, a virulent spam campaign has made its way to Facebook Messenger recently.
Various internet security groups like Security Group, Kaspersky Lab, Avira, and CSIS have put out warnings concerning this spam campaign.
The nasty link comes in the form of a video and can come to you via one of your friend's private message or feed, which means they have been hacked also.
The spam message will have your friends name, video and then a short link following.
According to BleepingComputer.com, anyone clicks a worm link, similar to the one pictured above, will be redirected to different pages in conjunction with the type of browser they use and their geographical location.
Depending on your browser, you could be redirected to everything from a fake YouTube page to a Flash Player installer.
If you should receive a link from a friend or anyone, for that matter, don't click the link and be sure to reach out to the individual who sent it and let them know that they may have a problem.
