The past four years have been extremely challenging for the couple that spent much of their adult life helping others, she as manager of the Acadia Federal Credit Union at St. Agatha, formerly the St. Agatha Federal Credit Union and he as foreman of the St. Agatha Public Works Department. More than four years ago Mary Ann Chamberlain was diagnosed with a fatty liver disease.

Along with that she has developed many complications dealing with, and surrounding this disease. She has been hospitalized many times at Fort Kent and in Bangor and Portland. They have incurred and continues to deal with multiple financial hurdles, not covered by their medical insurance, due to many hospitalizations.

She is presently at a rehab facility due to a broken hip caused by a fall which occurred a couple weeks ago.

Both never hesitated to assist others when needed. They both have been major contributors to the community. They were both involved with organizations like the St. Agatha Fire Department and Auxiliary and others over the years.

Mary Ann had to retire because of her illness.
