
Man Sentenced to 22 Years for Armed Bank Robbery in Maine
A 42-year-old man was sentenced to 22 years in prison for bank robbery and brandishing a firearm in Maine.
Multiple Charges
Timothy Riley from Gorham was charged with robbing a bank, brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence, and possessing a firearm as a prohibited person.
Pleaded Guilty
He pleaded guilty on March 17, 2025. Riley was also given five years of supervised release and ordered to pay restitution to the bank.
Brandished a Gun and Demanded Money
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said Riley entered a Waterboro bank brandishing a Glock and demanded money from the teller in June 2024.

Fled Bank Robbery on Dirt Bike
He fled with the money on a dirt bike. Riley eluded officers when he drove off-road.
K-9 Teams Tracked Suspect
K-9 teams tracked him and recovered the handgun and a baseball cap consistent with the description during the robbery.
Admitted to Robbery
He was apprehended later that evening and admitted to the crimes.
Prior Federal Conviction
“Riley’s criminal history includes past state convictions for burglary and robbery, and a federal conviction for interfering with commerce by robbery. His criminal history precludes him from possessing any firearms,” said the DOJ.
