A 21-year-old man died Wednesday night after he was found lying in the breakdown lane of I-295 in Portland.

Man Found in Breakdown Lane Near Walking Path

The Portland Police Department said passers-by found the man lying in the breakdown lane near the walking path on Tukey’s Bridge around 9:47 pm.

Police Responded to Started First Aid at the Scene

Officers responded to the scene and started first aid to the victim.

Victim Taken to Maine Medical Center Where He Died from his Injuries

He was transported to Maine Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

Suspect is in Custody and No Danger to the Public

A suspect was taken into custody. Police said there is no danger to the public.

Autopsy to Determine Cause and Manner of Death

“An autopsy is scheduled for later this morning. The official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Office of Chief Medical Examiner,” according to Portland PD.
