The Southern Aroostook Lady Warriors captured their first state title since 1995. They traveled to Augusta to take on the defending Class D State Champion Vinalhaven Vikings.

In a game that was back and forth through three quarters, the Warriors used a strong fourth quarter to pull away with a 54-37 victory.

Coach Cliff Urquhart’s Lady Warriors used a balanced attack to bring back the Gold Ball to Southern Aroostook. Kacy Daggett and Sydney Brewer led the way with 12 points each. They were helped by Kassidy Mathers 11 points and Makaelyn Porters 10 points on their way to the Class D girls title.

Vinalhaven was led by Gilleyanne Davis-Oaks game high 17 points and will finish the season at 21-1.

The Cushman and Son’s Player of the Game was Kacy Daggett.
