Sure, we always rally behind our athletes in the Olympics. We pull for our professional teams in football, baseball, and basketball. For years though, there was always a stigma about the sport of soccer and it's unpopularity with the U.S. audience. I think that's changing.
Nobody said we didn't love soccer. I love soccer more than baseball and basketball to be honest. The problem was that nobody watched it on television. The armchair audience was not there drinking beer and eating pizza like they do in other sports. I don't know about you but I've seen a significant push by advertising companies to rile up the American soccer audience and it's paying off.
