Good news for motorists. Gas prices around New England still continue their downward trend.

According to the latest survey by, gas prices here in Maine fell 2 cents this past week to an average $2.21 a gallon. Pump prices in Presque Isle were at $2.39 a gallon at most stations as of Tuesday morning.

Next door in New Hampshire, gasoline dropped 3.5 cents from last week's price to an average $2.24 a gallon. Vermont showed the biggest decrease with a drop of 4.1 cents to $2.36

Meanwhile, the national average was 34.6 cents cheaper than a year ago, but nosed up a little, 1.1 cents, from one month ago.
