Music Clinic With Grammy-Winning R&B/Funk Star Offered In Brewer This May
Musicians in Eastern Maine are invited to an exciting music clinic/performance taking place in Penobscot County this May.
According to Andrew Clifford, founder/producer and recording engineer at Main Street Music Studio in Brewer, legendary R&B/Funk musician Nigel Hall will speak, teach and perform at a clinic at the studio on Monday May 11th, from 7 PM to 8 PM.
Clifford, who created Main Street Music Studios in 2008, and opened the location at 379 South Main Street in Brewer in 2014, says this is not his first encounter with the Grammy winning musician, and he's excited to give students a chance to learn from such a pro.
"Nigel and I have worked together for decades and it’s so fun to see some of the students here get inspired by hearing him perform and speak about the music industry. It’s a very exclusive experience for our students."
"We are recording a bit and working together so I always try to share the experience with a clinic for the students to share the inspiration. Very fun time. It’s so special seeing the positive influence shared with the students. "

In his own words, from his website, Hall, who grew up in Washington D.C. but made his home in New Orleans, has created a name for himself both on stage and in the studio, with a strong funk foundation.
"His unique sound, built upon pages torn out of the golden-ages of R&B, funk and soul, have made him the musician he is today; an accomplished vocalist, keyboardist, studio musician, and member of the GRAMMY-nominated funk-jazz-soul-hip-hop-psychedelic-jam-experimental titans Lettuce. Legions of fans are already well in the know about Hall’s copious keyboard chops and powerful vocal style."

If you're interested in attending the clinic, space is limited. For tickets, you can email info@mainstreetmusicstudios.com.
Clifford says he likes to offer clinics like this as often as the artists' schedules allow.
"Whenever I have an artist up I know or come into contact with or am a friend of I always try to set up a clinic as well to open up an opportunity for students to hear them perform, speak and ask them questions. It really motivates them and is a great way inspire."
"We just had a clinic with my friend Jeff Coffin of Dave Matthews band recently too. So it’s sort of periodically and based on their availability as well as if we are recording here as well."
"We also had Luke Combs drummer and Bassists (Jake Sommers and Mat Maxwell) here as well."
Main Street Music Studios also offers studio space filled with high-end/full service recording equipment. They also hold music instruction and often use the space for classes and event that feature "local experts and nationally-know performers."
