Gas prices around New England are heading up as the thermometer is heading down.

In its latest survey, found that gas here in the Pine Tree State went up to $2.87 a gallon. In Presque Isle, as of Monday morning, prices at the pump at most places were just a shade under $3.00, coming in at $2.99 a gallon.

In New Hampshire, the price rose to $2.79 per gallon, and in neighboring Vermont, gas prices went up 3 cents from last week to $2.90 a gallon.

The national average checked in at $2.91 per gallon.
