
Man with 8 Warrants Assaulted Police and Resisted Arrest in Maine
A 33-year-old man with eight warrants was arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer and resisting arrest in Portland.

Officers spotted Nicholas Lavoie near Shaw's on Washington Avenue and attempted to apprehend him on active warrants.
Assaulted and Injured Police
The Portland Police Department said “Lavoie began resisting before striking one of the officers in the head causing a laceration. The suspect continued to resist, causing significant scratches to the neck of the same officer, who was treated for his injuries.”
Charges and Warrants
Lavoie was arrested and charged with Assault on a Police Officer and Refusing to Submit to Detention or Arrest. He also had eight outstanding warrants. Lavoie was taken to the Cumberland County Jail.
