A Maine man was sentenced to 18 years in prison for manslaughter of his 2-month-old daughter in July 2020.

“Shaken Baby Syndrome”

Trevor Averill from Buckfield was charged in the infant death of Harper Averill. Investigators said she died from “shaken baby syndrome,” according to WMTW News.

Daughter in “Medical Distress”

Police found her in “medical distress” after a 911 call from the home in Turner.

Infant Died Two Days Later

Officers did CPR at the scene until she was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland. Harper died two days later from her injuries.

Grand Jury Indictment

Averill was initially charged with depraved indifference murder and later indicted by a grand jury for murder and manslaughter.

Not Guilty Plea

He will also have six years of probation. He pleaded not guilty in September 2021.
