Residents of Aroostook County can again support cancer care locally this holiday season, while honoring, celebrating or remembering a loved one.

The 12th annual Lights of Life project is underway at Northern Light AR Gould Hospital. The holidays can be especially hard for families who may be battling cancer or who have lost a loved one to this devastating disease. As Hollie Wolverton, philanthropy lead for the AR Gould Foundation explains,  "Lights of Life is a way people can honor or remember these individuals while also supporting cancer care locally.”

According to Brenda Baker, manager of Northern Light Cancer Care in Presque Isle, community support of Lights of Life has made a real difference.  Past projects have helped to fund new equipment for patient care as well as supported a patient assistance fund to help patients with costs associated with their fight against cancer.

Lights can be purchased now through December 31 on-line by clicking on the Lights of Life link at the bottom of the hospital’s website: www.northernlighthealth.org/ARG.

Lights are being sold for: white, $10; red, $25; green, $50; blue, $100; orange, $250; purple, $500; and the star for $1,000.  The star for last year’s tree was generously purchased in honor of all caregivers, and other years it has been purchased in honor or memory of a specific individual.  This year’s star is still available for purchase.

For questions regarding the campaign or to learn more about making a donation other than online, please reach out to Hollie Wolverton at 207-768-4250.
