The flu's already arrived in Maine, and state experts say it's time to get vaccinated.

The Press Herald reports that there are already four confirmed cases of influenza in Maine. None of the individuals was hospitalized.

Maine's flu season of seasonal flue typically starts in October. Still, state epidemiologist Dr. Siiri Bennett said it's not unusual to see sporadic outbreaks in September.

It takes about two weeks for a flu shots to effectively fight the contagious viral infection. Shots then last for the entire flu season.
