The County Federal Credit Union will be breaking ground on its newest branch.

Ground breaking of a new full service branch in Mars Hill will take place on Friday October 18, at 8:00am at One Benjamin Street.

County FCU President and CEO, Ryan Ellsworth, said the banking institution had been looking for an opportunity to expand its membership and the Mars Hill community seemed to have  the best opportunity on the Route 1--Route 1A corridor “Once we heard a convenient location at the corner of Route 1 and Route 1A intersection was going to be available, we knew it would be a great location for our new branch.

The location is the site of the former Mars Hill One Stop building which was torn down and the land prepared for construction. The ground prep and construction of a 1375 square foot building will begin immediately with concrete being poured the week of October 21st, with a planned opening in early summer of 2020.

The credit union currently has over 1,000 members in Mars Hill and its bordering communities and is looking to expand on that.
