Chief Patrol Agent Daniel Hiebert said at a press conference on Monday, that they are not out looking for pot, but if an agent sees it, they will seize it.

According to Bangor Daily News, even if it's legal and prescribed to you if a border patrol agent knows you have marijuana, they will seize it. So, if you don't want them to take it, don't let them know you have it.

Cheif Patrol Agent Hiebert said that they were not out looking for it, but if an agent is helping someone change a tire on the side of the road and someone decides to light up a joint, it will be confiscated.

The reason for this is that pot possession is still illegal under federal law because marijuana is categorized as a Schedule I drug, as is morphine, LSD, peyote, and heroin.

Chief Hiebert did advise marijuana users of all kinds that they should be careful if you want to keep your marijuana and don't do anything that would draw their attention to it.
