Arootsakoostik Music Festival Celebrates 8 Years [VIDEO]
What started out as the brain child of one of northern Maine's most prolific and recognizable singer/songwriter's has turned into an event that draws more and more musicians and music lovers from all over the state, the country, and Canada. It's hard to believe Travis Cyr got the ball rolling for the Arootsakoostik Music Festival 8 years ago.
But he did, and we're thankful for that. As always, the event on Saturday, July 12th at Thomas Park in New Sweden features arts and crafts, food, information vendors, and more. Most especially featured will be a wide range of fantastic music by the likes of the Toughcats, Tricky Britches, Jacob Augustine, Dan Blakeslee and the Calabash Club, The Ghost of Paul Revere, The Suitcase Junket, Muddy Ruckus, Audrey Ryan, Dominic and the Lucid, Line of Force, GK and the Right of Way, Heather Styka, Herbcraft, Theodore Treehouse, Putnam Smith, Sorcha, and of course Travis Cyr.
Here's a set from 2012's event featuring Tricky Britches.
Gates open at 10am. The music begins at 11am and runs through 9pm. Tickets are $20 and are available at the gate. A portion of the proceeds go to benefit Thomas Park in New Sweden.
