It's official: one of the most legendary rock bands of all time has announced its farewell tour. Aerosmith even released a video confirming this news (there is some NSFW language in there. You have been warned).

The band from Boston has been together since 1970. That means over six decades of record-making and world touring is finally coming to an end for one of the most successful rock bands ever. According to Business Insider, Aerosmith is the 13th bestselling band of all time, with over 69 million records sold. The band's run is simply indisputable.

Aerosmith also won four Grammy's, numerous Billboard and American Music awards, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame back in 2001. And they got to write that song for one of the greatest movies ever made, Armageddon.

With Steven, Joe, and the rest of the crew getting ready to go their separate ways, I thought it would be fun to look back at Aerosmith's touring history in Maine. It's quite vast, to be honest. Aerosmith made many trips up to the Pine Tree State and played numerous venues, some that don't even exist anymore.

To no surprise, Aerosmith made the most Maine trips to Portland. The band played 12 shows in the then-named Cumberland County Civic Center, easily being the number one Maine spot. However, it wasn't just Portland. Trips to Bangor, Augusta, Old Orchard Beach, and even Lewiston were made by the Hall-of-Famers.

Below, you can take a closer look at Aerosmith's history in Maine, from the first show back in 1973 to the final one just last year up in Bangor. How many did you attend?
