UPDATE:

The investigation into Sunday morning’s homicide of 82-year-old James Pearson of Scarborough continues by State and Scarborough Police and police say progress is being made in the case.

Investigators do not believe there is an on-going threat to the public. Investigators say several other police agencies have shared information on incidents that took place during the weekend in their communities and investigators are looking into whether any of those incidents may be related to the homicide investigation.

Investigators have received a number of leads from the public, conducted numerous interviews, and evidence has been taken to the State Police Crime Lab in Augusta for examination.

The autopsy on Mr. Pearson began today at the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Augusta, but no information is being released at this time on the cause of death, as the homicide investigation continues.
