The Worst Frozen Egg Rolls in America Are Here in Maine
According to a recent study and survey, the worst frozen egg rolls in the country have been identified—and they’re found right here in Maine.
Listen, at the end of the day, egg rolls are fantastic, phenomenal—we could throw in another glowing word and it’d still fall short. So, even the so-called ‘worst’ egg roll? Still probably pretty darn good.
So, how did this unfortunate title come about? Who’s making the call when it comes to deciding the difference between a good egg roll and the ‘worst’ one?
Mashed evaluated 11 different frozen chicken egg roll brands—including two spring rolls with chicken—by comparing their flavor, filling, wrap quality, and overall resemblance to takeout-style egg rolls. The goal was to determine which brands best satisfy that classic Chinese takeout craving right from your home kitchen.

With that in mind, which brand landed at the very bottom of the list when it comes to ranking America’s frozen egg rolls?
Once again, according to Mashed and their recent report, ‘Frozen Egg Rolls Ranked From Worst to Best,’ the lowest-ranked pick is P.F. Chang's Chicken Egg Rolls—available in frozen aisles at grocery stores across our Pine Tree State. Mashed had this to say about their choice:
Mr. Chang, you have some explaining to do. Just look at this egg roll filling; the carrots are thick and blocky, the chicken is pale and pasty (despite it being dark meat, according to the package), and there is no balance in the ingredient mix.
They continue by saying that P.F. Chang’s frozen egg rolls miss the mark with uneven filling, overpowering white pepper, and a thick, rubbery wrapper that lacks crunch.
Mashed also notes the too-sour sauce, undisclosed mini size, and inconvenient packaging, ultimately calling the $3.99 purchase one they wouldn’t repeat.

And there you have it! If you’re in the market for frozen egg rolls, at least according to this one publication, you might want to steer clear of P.F. Chang's Chicken Egg Rolls.
