During the month of August, the Wintergreen Arts Center will host a Student Photography Showcase.

An opening reception will be held from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, August 2nd, during Presque Isle’s First Friday Art Walk.

34 young photographers, ranging in age from five to 13, will have their pictures featured that were taken during Wintergreen’s week-long Photography Camp. Students learned some of the basics of photography such as Leading lines, rule of thirds and point of focus. They also used editing software to create finished photos which will be displayed during the Showcase.

Shaye McHatten, Wintergreen’s Summer Arts Program instructor, is impressed by her students talent for photography. “We had a jam-packed week of combining creativity and fun allowing each student to express their uniqueness through photography.  I think people will be truly impressed with their work.” This summer is McHatten's third year teaching the Wintergreen Summer Arts Program.

The Student Photography Showcase is free and open to the public.
