UMFK to Host Open House for Prospective College-Bound Students
Prospective college-bound students will have a chance to experience life on the campus of the University of Maine at Fort Kent later this month.
UMFK will host its annual Fall Open House on Monday, October 29 to learn more about life on the Fort Kent campus.
Registration and check-in are from 8:15 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. in Cyr Hall, followed by a light breakfast and refreshments in the Bengal’s Lair. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Student Services that UMFK has to offer. Representatives from various offices who will be available to answer questions on topics ranging from residential life, career planning and placement, to financial aid will be available for questions.
The morning will begin with opening welcome remarks from Admissions Director Jill Cairns to be held in Fox Auditorium, followed by a panel presentation by current students who will talk about UMFK’s campus life.
Following the panel presentation, prospective students will learn more about the academic programs UMFK offers. The talented faculty, which fosters academic excellence in the learning environment, will show students and families how learning comes alive at UMFK. There also will be an opportunity for participants to ask questions to assist them in their educational goals.
Lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 1 p.m. at UMFK’s Nowland Hall newly renovated dining hall. UMFK Student Admissions Ambassadors also will lead campus tours, during this time to meet and interact with staff and see the campus.
All perspective students will have the opportunity to ask any additional questions about the campus in a wrap-up session at 1:00 p.m. Participants may even leave with some cool UMFK gear.
According to many current and former students, visiting the UMFK campus is the best way to gather information to help with a college search.
