State Police say a Lincoln woman died Friday night in a crash along Route 2 in Greenbush.

Troopers said 64-year-old Patricia Worster died at the crash site.  Her car was traveling north when it skidded on icy Route 2 and struck the rear of a vehicle in front of her, and then struck a pickup truck which was parked in the southbound breakdown lane.

The crash took place during freezing rain which caused the road to become ice covered.

The Maine Bureau of Highway Safety said six people died in car crashes in Maine on Friday. In addition to the Greenbush crash, two people died in a two-vehicle crash in Vassalboro, a pedestrian was struck and killed attempting to cross Western Ave in Augusta, a man died when his car slid into a brook in West Paris and a man died Friday night when his car overturned in Buckfield.

The bureau said Friday was the deadliest day on Maine roads in over eighteen months.  Five people died in two separate crashes in Maine on June 2, 2018.
