With the opening of two new schools in New Brunswick, some students in Carleton County will not be heading back to class today after March break.

March break will be extended by three days for students from Debec and Southern Carleton Elementary as teachers and staff make the move to the new school in the area and get settled in.

Students and teachers alike will start classes at the new Meduxnekeag Consolidated School on Thursday, March 12th.

Anglophone West School District Superintendent David McTimoney says the new Meduxnekeag Consolidated School has the same features as the new Townsview School in Woodstock, New Brunswick.

Townsview School opened for students in January.

McTimoney says the new schools will both be able accommodate up to 650 students from Kindergarten to 8th Grade.
