A 66-year-old man died Monday night after he was hit by a truck while walking on Kerr Street in Rumford.

Pedestrian Died after Being Hit by Truck

The Rumford Police Department said a 17-year-old male from Mexico, Maine, struck Mark Mccollough in the roadway around 9:54 pm. Mccollough was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police Obtained Forensic Blood Draws

“Forensic blood draws were obtained from both the driver and the pedestrian to determine whether alcohol or drugs were factors,” said Rumford PD.

Cause and Manner of Death

The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause and manner of death.

Crash Investigation Ongoing

The crash happened between Dunton Street and Forest Avenue and is under investigation by a crash reconstructionist.

Search Warrant for Forensic Examination

“Investigators will also seek a search warrant to conduct a more thorough forensic examination of the vehicle involved and its onboard systems,” said Rumford Police.

Police Asking for Security Footage

Police are looking for more information about the crash and are asking residents and nearby businesses to check surveillance footage between 9:30 pm and 10:30 pm. Call police at 207-364-3449 if you have additional information.
