Troop F of the Maine State Police, based in Houlton has a new leader.

Yesterday Sergeant John-Paul Cote was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Lt. Cote is the newest of the Troop Commanders and will oversee operations of the Troop F Houlton Barracks. Troop F is responsible for Aroostook County and the extreme northern sections of Somerset, Piscataquis and Penobscot counties. In addition, the Troop patrols Interstate 95 from Sherman to the Canadian border in Houlton.

Lt. Cote replaces Lt. Mark Brooks who has transferred to the Troop C Barracks. Troop C is responsible for patrolling Somerset, Franklin and northern Kennebec counties. The Troop also patrols the 45-mile stretch of I-95 from Augusta to Newport.
