RCMP say a 59-year-old man from Petit-Tracadie has been charged with seven additional offences in connection with an investigation into allegations of sexual assault against minors.

Delphis Mallet appeared in Tracadie Provincial Court on Tuesday and was charged with two counts of forcible confinement, two counts of uttering threats, two counts of administering a noxious substance, and failure to comply with a firearms prohibition order.

Mallet was previously charged on Friday, June 3 with two counts of sexual touching, two counts of invitation to sexual touching, two counts of sexual assault, and one count each of trafficking cocaine, trafficking methamphetamine, and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

He was arrested on June 2 following an investigation by the Tracadie RCMP into a report of sexual assault involving two young girls, according to Cpl. Alice Desroches.

A search warrant was executed at a residence and property in Petit-Tracadie. During the search, police say they seized a variety of items related to the investigation, as well as a computer, SD cards, and more than 400 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine.

Delphis Mallet was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday, June 14 for a bail hearing.
