Gas prices around New England are inching downward once again.

Average gas prices in Maine have slid down nearly a penny in the last week to $2.54 a gallon, according to gas monitoring website GasBuddy.com. In Presque Isle Monday morning, gas was $2.74 a gallon at most stations.

In New Hampshire, pump prices fell 1.5 cents to $2.48 a gallon. And in Vermont, an average gallon of gas costs $2.60, a drop of 2.5 cents.

The national average price of gas fell in the past week to $2.50 a gallon. That's a drop of 7.3 cents a gallon in the past month, but is still 22 cents per gallon higher than a year ago at this time.
