WCSH6 reported this morning that longtime Maine broadcaster Fred Nutter has passed away. He was 82.

Fred was known and beloved throughout Maine for many years, and was famous for his wide-ranging video editorials on topics from political issues to the weather. He ended each editorial with the memorable line, "That's our opinion, we welcome yours."

Born in Sanford in 1933, Fred worked in radio at WSME and WPOR before starting at WCSH radio in 1965, where he was a reporter. Moving to WCSH TV, he rose through the ranks to become Portland's city hall correspondent, the State House correspondent in Augusta, WCSH6's News Director, and finally Editorial Director.

He leaves behind three children, nine grandchildren, and his wife of 55 years, Joan.
